Following the conclusion of the battle of Villers-Bocage several of the 1st Company’s Schwimmwagen drove into the town to recover those killed on 13 June 1944. On their left is Panzer IV 634. Next to the vehicle number on the rear of the turret is the Schönburg family’s coat of arms; Prince Schönburg, commander of the IInd Battalion, Panzer-Lehr Regiment, was killed a short time before.

Photographs of the town of Evrecy, which was totally destroyed by English bombers during the night of 15–16 June 1944. The 101st SS Panzer Battalion suffered heavy casualties in the bombing; as well 130 French civilians lost their lives.
